Stone Polishing?

Unlike surface coatings, diamond polishing works directly on the stone — delivering a durable, long-lasting result.

Stone polishing uses progressively finer diamond abrasive pads to refine the surface of natural stone, removing dullness, light scratches and surface imperfections to restore a high-gloss or honed finish.

The Stone Specialist provides professional stone polishing services across the Gold Coast using industrial-grade diamond polishing systems. We polish marble, granite, travertine, limestone, terrazzo and engineered stone floors, benchtops, bathrooms and commercial surfaces.

Polishing Process

Every job follows a structured five-stage process to ensure consistent, high-quality results across all stone types and surface conditions.

Inspection & Assessment

We inspect the stone surface to identify the condition, finish type and any underlying damage that needs to be addressed before polishing begins.

Surface Preparation

Deep scratches, cracks or chips are repaired prior to polishing. The surface is thoroughly cleaned to remove all contaminants.

Diamond Grinding & Honing

We use progressive diamond abrasive pads starting at the correct grit level to remove surface damage and bring the stone to a consistent finish.

Final Polish

Fine polishing pads and compounds are applied to achieve the specified finish — gloss, semi-gloss or honed — depending on your preference.

Protective Sealing

A penetrating stone sealer is applied after polishing to protect the restored surface and extend the life of the finish.

How much does stone polishing cost on the Gold Coast?

How often should stone floors be polished?

Residential stone floors typically benefit from professional polishing every two to five years. Commercial surfaces in high-traffic areas may require annual polishing. Regular maintenance cleaning between professional polishing extends the life of the finish.

Can stone polishing remove deep scratches?

Diamond polishing removes light to moderate scratches effectively. Deep scratches may require grinding at a coarser grit level before polishing. During our inspection, we assess the depth of scratches and advise accordingly.

What is the difference between polished and honed stone?

A polished finish is highly reflective and glossy, showing the full depth and colour of the stone. A honed finish is matte or satin, with a smooth but non-reflective surface. We can achieve either finish depending on your preference.

Do you polish stone benchtops?

Yes. We polish stone kitchen benchtops, bathroom vanity tops and other stone surfaces. Benchtop polishing is particularly effective for removing acid etching and dullness that commonly affects marble and natural stone kitchen surfaces.
