Stone
Restoration
Gold Coast

Full diamond resurfacing that removes deep scratches, heavy etching and staining — rebuilding worn natural stone to a flawless finish.

The Service

What Is
Stone Restoration?

Where polishing refreshes, restoration rebuilds — a full grind, hone and polish sequence for stone that's beyond a routine touch-up.

Stone restoration is a comprehensive resurfacing process that addresses significant surface damage, deep scratches, heavy etching, staining and general wear to bring natural stone back to a high-quality finish. Unlike routine polishing, stone restoration typically involves a full grinding, honing and polishing sequence using diamond abrasive systems to remove substantial surface damage before rebuilding the finish.

The Stone Specialist provides professional stone restoration services across the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Northern NSW. Our technicians use industrial diamond grinding and polishing equipment to restore marble, travertine, granite, limestone, terrazzo and engineered stone surfaces in residential, commercial and luxury properties.

How It Works

Our Stone
Restoration Process

Restoration follows a full six-stage diamond process — from deep grinding through to sealing.

01

Site inspection & assessment

We assess the stone type, finish and extent of damage, and identify any cracks, chips or holes that require repair before restoration begins.

02

Crack, chip & hole repair

Damaged areas are repaired using colour-matched fillers designed for the specific stone type before resurfacing begins.

03

Deep grinding & stock removal

For heavily damaged surfaces, coarse diamond grinding pads remove the damaged layer and bring the surface back to a consistent, level plane.

04

Honing sequence

Progressive diamond honing pads refine the surface, removing the scratches left by each prior stage.

05

Final polish

Fine polishing pads and compounds achieve the specified finish — gloss, semi-gloss or honed.

06

Sealing & protection

A penetrating impregnating sealer is applied to protect the restored surface against staining and moisture.

Surfaces
We Restore

We restore the full range of natural and engineered stone across residential and commercial properties.

Marble floors & bathrooms

Marble is a soft stone that shows wear and etching quickly. Full restoration brings it back to a mirror-like or honed finish.

Travertine floors

Travertine floors in high-traffic areas become dull and worn. Restoration includes filling open pores and polishing to a consistent finish.

Granite surfaces

Granite restoration addresses deep scratching and surface damage that cannot be resolved by standard polishing alone.

Limestone floors

Limestone restoration addresses heavy surface wear and deep staining in soft stone environments.

Terrazzo floors

Commercial terrazzo restoration involves grinding, polishing and sealing the composite surface.

Engineered stone benchtops

Engineered stone benchtop restoration corrects surface damage and refinishes the surface to its original appearance.

Questions

Frequently Asked
Questions

Stone polishing addresses light to moderate surface wear and is suitable for surfaces in reasonable condition. Stone restoration is a more comprehensive process for heavily worn, deeply scratched or significantly damaged stone that requires grinding before the polishing sequence can begin.
Most natural stone surfaces can be restored, including marble, travertine, granite, limestone and terrazzo. The suitability depends on the stone type, thickness of the surface layer and the nature of the damage. We assess each surface individually and advise on whether full restoration is appropriate.
A professionally restored stone surface, properly sealed and maintained, can hold its finish for many years. The longevity depends on foot traffic, cleaning practices and the use of appropriate stone-safe cleaning products. We provide maintenance advice after each restoration job.

I would highly recommend Nathan from The Stone Specialist. He put me at ease with what the process was to repair the small hole and chip in our stone benchtop. He stated that once the repair was done you wouldn’t be able to see where the chip and hole was. True to his words, you can’t see the repairs. Very happy with the outcome. Thanks Nathan

Nathan is a very pleasant tradesman who arrived punctually and the work undertaken was precise such that the repair to the stone is now undetectable due to his efforts to colour match the original and create a very smooth edge to the finished product. Thank you Nathan, job well done!

We have used Nathan from The Stone Specialist for a variety of jobs over the last couple of months, ranging from repairing chips in a bathroom vanity and damage to a kitchen benchtop, through to a major restoration project in our substantial outdoor entertaining area and around our pool, which is finished with travertine tiles. Many of the tiles had cracked and required replacement, while others had stains and deep scratches. Nathan's workmanship was exceptional, and the finished result exceeded our expectations. The restoration has brought the area back to life and looks fantastic. Nathan is professional, reliable, and takes great pride in his work. He was always punctual, communicated exceptionally well throughout every project, and kept us informed at every stage. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Nathan, The Stone Specialist, for jobs of any size, from small repairs to large-scale restoration work.
