Benchtop Chip
& Crack Repair
Gold Coast

Colour-matched repair of chips, cracks and edge damage in stone benchtops and floors — restored so the damage is difficult or impossible to see.

The Damage

Damage We
Repair

Chipped, cracked or broken stone is far more repairable than most people expect — and a fraction of the cost of replacement.

Physical damage to stone benchtops, floors and surfaces is more common than many homeowners realise — and far easier to repair than most expect. The Stone Specialist provides professional chip, crack and edge repair services across the Gold Coast using colour-matched repair systems formulated for natural and engineered stone.

Our repairs are designed to be as invisible as possible, restoring the structural integrity and visual appearance of the stone so the damage is difficult or impossible to detect after completion.

What We Repair

What We Repair

From corner chips to failed tile adhesive, we repair the full range of stone damage.

Chips

Impact chips on corners, edges and flat surfaces of stone benchtops and floors.

Cracks

Hairline cracks and structural cracks in stone slabs, benchtops and floor tiles.

Edge damage

Chipped, broken or crumbling edges on stone benchtops and countertops.

Hollow tiles

Loose or hollow-sounding floor tiles where the adhesive has failed beneath the stone.

Filled travertine

Restoration of unfilled travertine where holes and voids have opened up.

How It Works

Our Chip &
Crack Repair Process

Every repair follows a five-stage process built around one goal — an invisible, durable result.

01

Assessment

We inspect the damaged area, assess the stone type, colour and finish, and confirm the repair approach. For complex cracks we assess whether the crack is structural or cosmetic.

02

Colour matching

We mix colour-matched repair compounds specifically for your stone's colour and tonal variation — the most critical step in achieving an invisible repair.

03

Repair application

The repair compound is applied to the chip or crack, built up in layers as required, and shaped to match the original surface profile.

04

Grinding & polishing

Once cured, the repair area is ground flush and polished to match the surrounding surface finish.

05

Protective sealing

The repaired area and surrounding stone is sealed to protect against future staining.

Silestone, Caesarstone and Quantum Quartz chips repaired using matching repair systems.

Travertine

We fill holes, voids and cracks in travertine floors and restore damaged areas.

Limestone chip and crack repairs using lime-compatible repair systems.

Questions

Frequently Asked
Questions

Yes. Chips in stone benchtops are repaired using colour-matched repair compounds. The goal is to restore the appearance and surface integrity of the benchtop so the damage is difficult to detect. The quality of the outcome depends on the size of the chip, the stone type and how closely we can match the stone’s colour and pattern.
This depends on the size and location of the damage and the nature of the stone. Repairs in consistent-coloured stone in an inconspicuous location can be virtually invisible. Repairs in highly patterned stone (such as heavily veined marble) or in a prominent location may be more detectable on close inspection. We discuss realistic expectations with you before starting the work.
Yes. Hairline cracks and small cracks in stone benchtops and floor tiles can be repaired. Structural cracks that run through the full thickness of a slab may require additional support, but cosmetic crack repair restores the surface appearance effectively. We assess the crack during our inspection and advise on the best approach.
In most cases, yes. Professional stone benchtop repair is a fraction of the cost of full replacement. Even significant chip and crack damage can often be repaired to a satisfactory standard. We can provide an honest assessment of whether repair is appropriate for your specific situation.
Yes. We repair chips, cracks and edge damage in engineered stone benchtops including Silestone, Caesarstone and Quantum Quartz. Engineered stone has consistent colour through its depth, which can make colour matching more straightforward than some natural stones.

I would highly recommend Nathan from The Stone Specialist. He put me at ease with what the process was to repair the small hole and chip in our stone benchtop. He stated that once the repair was done you wouldn’t be able to see where the chip and hole was. True to his words, you can’t see the repairs. Very happy with the outcome. Thanks Nathan

We have used Nathan from The Stone Specialist for a variety of jobs over the last couple of months, ranging from repairing chips in a bathroom vanity and damage to a kitchen benchtop, through to a major restoration project in our substantial outdoor entertaining area and around our pool, which is finished with travertine tiles. Many of the tiles had cracked and required replacement, while others had stains and deep scratches. Nathan's workmanship was exceptional, and the finished result exceeded our expectations. The restoration has brought the area back to life and looks fantastic. Nathan is professional, reliable, and takes great pride in his work. He was always punctual, communicated exceptionally well throughout every project, and kept us informed at every stage. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Nathan, The Stone Specialist, for jobs of any size, from small repairs to large-scale restoration work.
